Lake Taupo Christian Camp

We arrived at our third, and final, camp in New Zealand on Thursday. It has been wonderful so far. The staff welcomed us with open arms, gave us a tour of the grounds, and showed us to our place. We moved into our 2-bedroom flat, which has been a real blessing. The camp set us up with everything we need, including a computer so we can update our blog regularly :) At least, we’ll try! We won’t have high-speed until next week sometime, but as soon as we do, we promise to put up some pictures.

The camp overlooks Lake Taupo, New Zealand’s largest lake. Compared to Lake Ontario, it’s a bit of a pond, but the water is absolutely beautiful to swim in - cool and clear. We hope to complete another triathlon when we return to Canada this summer, so we started training this morning, with a run and a swim in the lake.

Tomorrow, we start working as Hosts. We host all types of groups, from schools to business conferences to churches. Our job includes everything from greeting them and explaining camp policies when they arrive to directing them at meals to running their adventure activities. At the other New Zealand camps, we haven’t worked directly with groups, so we look forward to the challenge. Different aspects of the job will stretch both of us, so we appreciate your prayers.

We really look forward to being part of a community again. While we love to see the country and enjoy the freedom of living in our car and tent, we realize how important it is to invest in the lives of others while we are here. We have met so many amazing people in New Zealand and look forward to getting to know everyone here. Let us know what is new in your lives!

Hello! I can't believe you are on the last leg of your trip. And the camp you're at now sounds like a wonderful last stop. We miss you! You won't believe how much Tara has grown. Did Paul mention you should be receiving the Next Album, Sweet Dark soon? Lots of love and blessings across many ponds and oceans...
