NEW POST - You can read our latest post under October Archives. For some reason, we can't get it to show on the Current Posts page. Steve, please hack in a fix this for us!

BIG NEWS!

Well, yesterday was our most eventful in NZ so far (and by far, the most expensive!) I won't keep you waiting as to our 2 massive purchases, but we bought a car and tickets to Australia for Christmas! All within a couple hours of eachother..so fun!

We've been hoping to buy a car, and praying for something to come up, and God answered! Through a friend of a friend, we ended up at a car dealership in Christchurch. We bought a 1991 Toyota Corona - and Dave's favourite part is that it's a diesel. The guys we bought it from were hilarious, to say the least. By the end of the deal, we had an offer to stay at one of their houses next time we're in Christchurch. Now that is South Island hospitality at its best! The car is in great condition, and besides being a little noisy, is perfect for us.

So, after dropping a couple bucks on the car (actually, less than some people pay for rent for 1 month, so we're really not complaining!), we headed off to a low-cost travel agent to buy some tickets for Australia for Christmas. We had been toying with the idea for awhile, knowing it may be awhile before we're on this side of the world again, and we figured it would be great to celebrate Christmas in the Oz. Hopefully spending the day at the beach will make up for being way from our families :)

We're pretty excited about these developments, and feel blessed by God's goodness. We've now left Christchurch, and we're headed down the east coast ofthe South Island. For those of you more geographically inclined, we're on our way to Dunedin and then on to Gore at the southern tip of New Zealand. I actually invested in a wool sweater at a second-hand shop today, as the nights are a little chilly here still. We're looking forward to summer, which is quickly approaching here.

I guess that's it for now. Please pray that God will keep us safe as we drive in our new little car. Continue to pray that He will stretch us, and we will find community. Thanks for those who have posted on our blog. We love to hear from you - and Steve, so far only sheep, no goats! But lots and lots of wooly sheep!
