Well, I am not sure if this is cheating or not in blogger ethics, but here is our recent group update. If you didn't get it, and would like to receive our future updates, leave us a comment with your email, and we'll add you to the list. We promise to become better bloggers when we get to Honduras - including pictures!

Dear family and friends,

We trust this email finds you well. We are now back in Canada, after returning from New Zealand on June 11th. While we miss our Kiwi friends and their beautiful country, it has been wonderful to catch up with our family and friends at home. We enjoyed 2 weeks in Toronto at MissionPrep, an orientation course on intercultural missions. We loved the experience, met lots of great people and felt enriched by the discussions and teaching. Our days have also been filled with preparations for the next stage in our lives - our move to Honduras. We fly out on August 5th, less than 3 weeks away. We plan to live at Cerro de Luz, the camp where Dave will be working. The camp is located just outside of the town of Siguatepeque, where my school is located. We feel both excited and nervous as we look forward to a number of "new" experiences - jobs, language, daily routines, friendships, ministries, etc.

We want to say thank you to those who have already committed to supporting us financially. We appreciate it so much! Please pray with us as we hope to raise the remainder of our monthly support before leaving in August. For anyone interested in partnering with us, please email us for more information or directly to Latin America Mission Canada, our sending organization, @ info@lamcanada.ca.

Also, a big thanks to those who pray for us regularly. We are grateful for the many answers to prayer over the past few weeks and we continue to see God's hand upon us, in both the rewarding and the challenging moments. We ask that you would continue to speak with God on our behalf about the following:

  • God's direction and presence
  • raising our financial support
  • approval for OHIP coverage and Honduras visa
  • adjustment to language and culture
  • safety in travelling to and in Honduras
  • new friendships and a community to be a part of

We will continue to have access to email while in Honduras, and we would love to hear from you. If you are no longer interested in receiving our quarterly updates, please let us know, and we can remove you from our list. For more frequent updates and pictures once we arrive, please check out our blog - www.daveandesther.blogspot.com

Thank you again for your friendship and love.

By Grace,
Dave and Esther Bettney
