Pictures!

As promised, I just put up a bunch of pictures of how things are going in Honduras. At the beginning (after the funny pics of Dave and Theo), there are pictures of my school. I've been there twice already, and start teacher orientation on Monday, which is exciting. The rest of the colegio (high school) English teachers arrive on Thursday, and we're having a dinner that night to get to know everyone. You may not be able to tell from the pictures, but some of the school buildings are converted plane hangers - the property used to house the airport and runway for Mission Aviation Fellowship. The school also turned a shipping container into 3 administrative offices - they are pretty resourceful!

After that, there are a few pics of Ken and Sue's place (and more Dave and Theo - they are bonding well!), and then ... our house! We decided this week to live at the camp, and we both feel great about the decision. While living at the school might have been more convenient for me, this will allow us to have some privacy, as well as be involved at the camp on the weekends. And, we are going to have our first house!! As you can tell, we're pretty excited about it. Finally, an opportunity to put all my hours watching those home renovation shows to work.

The house is very cute, with whitewashed walls and high wooden ceilings, but it definitely needs some work. It was built a few years ago, but no one has actually ever permanently lived there. Until now, it has been used by different groups staying at the camp. With a bit of TLC, it will be great though.

We shopped for stoves and refrigerators yesterday, which was actually a lot of fun. It was our first time in town on our own, so we put our limited Spanish skills to work. Today we went to see a cabinet maker, who will be making some kitchen cupboards for us. Our house also lacks any storage space (ie. no closets), so we may need him to create something to hold the few things we have.

Dave also had a driving lesson today. We both need to learn how to drive standard, but Dave has a bit more experience than I do (driving my brother's car in a Texas parking lot apparently doesn't count), so he was first up. When Ken and Sue leave on Friday, we will have a car to get around town on our own, so you can pray he's ready by then. It is hard to describe what driving is like here - let's just say, even in town there's some serious off-roading! It makes the road to my parent's cottage look like a skating rink.

Anyways, that's it for now, as dinner is on the table. It continues to be a bit of an adventure, but that's how we like it. God appears on a daily basis, in the little and big things, for which we are grateful. We trust you are experiencing Him in your life as well.

Esdave!

Apparently it's your birthday Es - I mean, of course I remembered, I'm a great friend that way :) - So Happy Birthday!!

And the pics are great, it looks beautiful down there and you're house is so cute! Sorry that we never connected on the phone Es....but if/when you get a phone down there, lemme know the number - calling cards are pretty cheap here, and it would be great to hear your voice.

I love and miss you guys! One big virtual hug from me!
*SQUEEZE!*
