Well, it has been a little while since I wrote a real update, so here goes. Things have been going well lately. It has been a busy couple weeks, filled with the usual Christmas parties and preparations. Last week, we celebrated at the camp with over 100 Union Biblica staff and volunteers and tonight we have the school staff party. On Friday night, we have the school Christmas fair, which is apparently the biggest event of the year. We don’t have a lot of classes this week, as the students will be cooking food, practicing songs and skits and building champas (bamboo huts). At first, I imagined little stalls, but apparently they are big enough to fit 6 large tables in, so I’m not sure what to expect now! I may try to rope Dave into helping my class J

Besides all of the parties, we also have 2 big events we’re looking forward to – language school and my parents, Heather and Roger, arriving!! They arrive on December 23rd, less than 2 weeks from now! We are so excited to see them, to sit and chat and to show them a bit of our lives and the country. Please do pray for all of us as we travel over the next few weeks. We will be borrowing the camp truck, and it will be our first time driving around the country, which can be challenging to say the least!

Prior to that adventure, we have 1-week of Spanish language school in Copan. We will spend 4-hours each morning with a Spanish teacher, and then in the afternoons and evenings be involved in different social and cultural activities to practice what we have learned. We will also be living with a Honduran family for the week, which should be a neat experience. We are looking forward to building our Spanish skills, as it can be difficult to be unable to easily communicate with those around us. We hope to take these courses at different times throughout the year, as well as our weekly Spanish classes here in Siguatepeque.

We have decorated our house a little bit for Christmas, which has been fun. We waited to see what our neighbours did first, but most people put up lights, so we went ahead and decorated one of our windows. We also made some decorations for our little tree and put a few presents for Mom and Dad underneath :)

Well, that's it from this part of the world. If we don't get a chance to post again, we hope everyone has a wonderful Christmas. We miss you and hope to see many of you in February.
